When Retired Master Sergeant James Kozma of the U.S. Marines received on-field recognition from Benrus during the Buffalo Bills Salute to Service game on November 12, he was surprised to meet his new service dog, Rebel. Watch The Video!
The Giants honored U.S. Marines Sgt. Gary Clark before the game as part of their Salute To Service by surprising him with a new service dog named Athena. Clark loved the gesture and Giants fans in attendance exploded in applause as they too shared in the joy of the moment.
In an effort to support the charitable work of local organizations that serve the areas of Suffolk Federal branch locations, the credit union has identified nonprofits to provide financial support. In Commack, Branch Manager Gail DiGiacomo presents a $500 contribution each to both Paws of War in Nesconset and Fountainhead Congregation in East Northport.
Pairing service dogs with military veterans suffering from PTSD has proven to help the healing process. According to the National Center for Health Research, studies have shown that a dog's presence, loyalty and love are known to improve heart health by lowering blood pressure and regulating the heart rate during stressful situations. Paws of War, was founded to help those military veterans by training rescued dogs to be service dogs.
